No booze, cold sandwiches, toilets full of human waste, cold showers...

(KTRH - Houston) -- Talk about making the best of a bad situation. Chris McCord, an optimistic and stoic stranded Carnival Cruise line passenger, called in to the Michael Berry Show to describe the conditions on board.

Forget buffets of roast pork, grilled chicken and pan seared scallops; with no power the crew had to feed people with sandwiches, fruit, corn and asparagus.

Want a drink to bide the time or deal with your plight? Forget about it. After the power went out the crew immediatly halted serving alcohol so the ship instantly became a sober zone, no booze to soothe the misery.

There were a few medical issues on board and Chris reports that there was an individual who had a stroke and had to be airlifted.

As for entertainment,  they've had bands playing music, games and movies, and trivia quesitons to help pass the time.

Chris had high praise for the crew saying they have gone 'above and beyond, they've done the best they can.'

When asked if he'd go on a cruise again, Chris says yes but he'd upgrade to a balcony suite so he can open the doors and let the cool air in if this were to happen again.

Carnival says they will offer all passengers a free cruise and they'll refund the money from this cruise, plus an additional $500.

Asked if this is the worst vacation he's ever had, Chris says "nah, I've made a good thing out of something bad."
