The actress passed away after a lengthy battle with cancer
The actress best known for playing the mother on the sitcom "One Day At A Time" is dead. Bonnie Franklin passed away today at the age of 69. She had a lengthy battle with cancer.
The actress starred in the sitcom alongside Valerie Bertinelli and Mackenzie Phillips. She recently appeared in a guest role on Bertinelli's TV Land show "Hot In Cleveland."
Franklin started her TV career at the age of nine, appearing on "The Colgate Comedy Hour." As late as 2011 she and the cast of "One Day At A Time" were given the "Innovators Award" from TV Land for carving out new territory. The show handled taboo topics for the time such as suicide and pre-marital sex.
